Tolhuijs

Tolhuijs Design is a sustainable design agency based in Amsterdam. Their products tell a story: the story of sustainable waste and surplus materials and socially responsible production. They work together with prisons and sheltered workshops in the Netherlands, in order to realise a production chain that is honest and helps people with a distance to the labour market. Tolhuijs take waste materials as a starting point and transforms them into high-quality, durable design objects. The process by which the value of waste material is increased is called upcycling. Through this process, we hope to contribute to the awareness that waste materials deserve a second life. Ultimately, design is number one.
