Buying light = giving light with Good&Mojo

Amsterdam- based lighting brand Good & Mojo only have two goals: creating sustainable (and gorgeous, might we add) lighting and helping people at the same time. They only use sustainable materials such as recycled paper, cork, wood chips, eco linen and bamboo. For every lamp you buy, they donate to the WakaWaka Foundation. They provide solar lamps to people in need of light in humanitarian aid situations in off-grid area’s throughout the world. All in all, Good&Mojo is definitely one of our favourite brands. Let us tell you why.

First of all, Good&Mojo supports the WakaWaka Foundation by donating 5% of every lamp they sell. Currently, they are supporting the following projects:

  • Nepal Earthquake Aid
  • Safe Light for Nigeria
  • Refugees in Lebanon

The WakaWaka foundation is a Dutch, international operating, non-profit organization. They are responsible for monitoring the efficient donation of WakaWaka lights in humanitarian aid situations. The WakaWaka is the most efficient solar lamp in the world. One day solar charging provides 80 hours of safe and sustainable light. It is also the safe alternative to dangerous kerosene lamps. The WakaWaka foundation works closely together with relief agencies to distribute the WakaWakas to people in need of light.

So when you buy light, you give light!

Simple as that.

Listening to nature
Furthermore, the Good&Mojo lighting collections have been designed with the environment and people in mind, resulting in light designs that are not only beautiful but sustainably made too. The designers behind Good&Mojo have designed quite the range of pendant lights, wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps that have all been constructed from natural materials. Lamps that will suit numerous interior design schemes, whether you are decorating your home or office. Many of the Good&Mojo designs have not only been constructed from sustainable natural materials, they have been constructed by upcycled waste materials such as recycled paper and woodchips.

Mekong Pendant collection
Similarly to the brand’s Citylights collection, the Good&Mojo collection features different designs that have been named after natural phenomenon such as volcanoes, mountains, forests, national parks and islands. Each design has been named with the referencing natural, sustainable materials used to create it. The Mekong Pendant Lights and Table Lamps are a prime example of this concept with each light featuring a beautifully entwined bamboo wood caged shade, that is contrasted with a white gloss covered smooth bamboo for a distinctive light effect. The Mekong Lights are handmade bamboo designs that have been named after the longest river in South East Asia, which flows through six different countries where bamboo grows in abundance.

And there’s more…
Other luxury lighting designs by Good&Mojo feature a slightly more conventional light design for a neutral and classic look. The Annapurna, Kilimanjaro and Everest light designs have all been named after iconic mountains, reflecting the height and style of the light designs.

Time to hygge the place up
Remember our story on hygge? (If not, you can read it here). It’s very important to know that all of these lights are very much hygge-approved. So buy light, give light, and hygge up your home with those lights. Go see for yourself, and check out the wonderful Good&Mojo collection.
