The most amazing treehouses around the world

What better to make from wood than a freaking house? (Besides gorgeous kitchenware, accessoires and more lovely items, ofcourse.)

Just when you thought you had outgrown the possibility of a tree house, some heroes of architecture have stepped in to make sure the childlike joy of living high up in a tree wasn’t reserved for just those in grade school. All around the world, designers and those in the hospitality industry are trying to bring tree houses back into our grown-up lives. And we love ’em for that. Enjoy the 8 coolest treehouses around the world!

  1. Three Story Treehouse in Revelstoke, Canada

Treehouse Wooden Amsterdam

Said to be the tallest tree house in all of British Columbia (yes, there are a lot of tree houses in B.C.), the three-story tree house is located in the Enchanted Forest, and it sure looks appropriate there, doesn’t it?

2. Teahouse Tetsu in Hokuto City, Japan

The Teahouse Tetsu is exactly what it sounds like: a teahouse in a tree. It was designed by architect Terunobu Fujimori and sits among the cherry blossoms in Hokuto City, Japan.

3. Soneva Kiri Treepod on Koh Kood, Thailand

The Soneva Kiri Resort on Koh Kood, Thailand, has a one-of-a-kind feature: “treepod” dining. Basically, you enter the pod on the jungle floor, and then it’s hoisted into the canopy, where you’re served a meal by a waiter on a zipline. What’s not to love?

4. Plane Treehouse in Costa Rica

While not entirely a treehouse, this vintage Boeing 727 was originally bought by Joanne Ussary for $2,000.00. It cost her $4,000.00 to move the plane and $24,000.00 to renovate an turn it into this Executive Suite 727 tree house. A jacuzzi in the cockpit is just one of the intriguing ideas she had for her new home…

5. 4TreeHouse in Muskoka, Canada

Designed by Lukasz Kos, 4Treehouse is constructed around four trees over Lake Muskoka in Ontario, Canada, and floats in the air like a big Japanese lantern on stilts. Would trade for my appartment any day of the week.

6. Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand

This restaurant in Auckland offers their guests an amazing dining experience: the restaurant seems to be organically wrapped around the tree and is able to host up to 18 guests at a time. Pretty good place for a first date, right?

7. Treehouse for birds ánd people in Japan

A modern treehouse concept by Nendo offers you the possibility to peek into the private life of birds. Divided into two parts by a wall with little peek holes, it allows people to see what the birds are doing on the other side of their wall.

8. The HemLoft Treehouse in Whistler, Canada

Our personal favourite! After retiring at the age of 26, software developer Joel Allen became a carpenter and fulfilled his dream of “building something cool”. Kind of an understatement, am i right?
