6 easy ways to make your office feel like home

We spend a lot of time in the office, sometimes even more than in our own home. So surely you’d like to have a comfortable and welcoming work environment. A space that improves your productivity and creativity. Say goodbye to boring white walls and hello to an inspiring office space! Here’s how…

Remove clutter

The first step towards your highly productive office space is to start with a clean slate. A clutter-free office makes it more comfortable and less distracting for you to work. So take a good look at your desk and sort all your items into three piles: to keep, archive and to throw away.

  • Discard unnecessary items: old papers or sticky notes, empty pens and so on.
  • Archive files and documents that are important but that you don’t need on a daily basis.
  • Keep your daily office essentials within easy reach. In this functional and beautiful wooden shelving unit, for example.

Do you want to keep your desk tidy? Consider buying some desk accessories to stay organised: a unique geometric pen holder, a folder to store important documents, and clips to keep your cords in place. Or how about a high-quality laptop stand that allows you to store some items underneath as well.

Decorate walls

Are the walls in your office looking bare? Wall decorations will enhance the overall mood of your space. A few family pictures or a photo of that fun work trip can make your office feel more like home. Or how about some inspirational quotes to keep you motivated.

Artwork is also a great way to give your workspace a more personal feel but still be professional. Plus, this gives you a stylish background when you’re on a video call!

Adjust the correct lighting

The right lighting is important in any indoor setting. It allows you to stay concentrated, and it keeps your eyes healthy. Especially considering we’re often exposed to blue light from computer screens and phones. Moreover, proper lighting makes your office space more inviting. Those typical fluorescent lights just won’t do anymore. Consider functional, ambient lighting that brightens up your entire workspace instead.

Depending on your space, you can opt for different types of lighting:

  • A table lamp will make it easier for you to see what you’re doing while also creating a warm atmosphere.
  • Hanging lamps and ceiling lights illuminate your entire office space in a natural way.
  • Ambient lighting such as a wall lamp and floor lamp helps to create a cosy and comfortable environment.

Play your favourite tunes

Do you like listening to music while working? Whether it’s jazzy lo-fi tunes or more upbeat songs, music can keep you motivated throughout the day. You might want to look for a decent pair of headphones, so as not to bother your colleagues. However, if you have your own office you shouldn’t deny yourself the quality of your favourite songs. You don’t even need to buy an entire music installation. Your phone and an amplifier will do the trick. And with the wireless Acoustibox amplifiers you get good tunes as well as a stunning, retro design. They would also look good in your home office.

Spruce up your floor

If you want to make your office feel more personal and welcoming, a rug is the way to go. Not only does it reduce noise levels, it also increases comfort and adds an artistic value to your space. Some advice: opt for a low pile rug. It’ll make it easier to move around your chair and other furniture. In addition, they are easier to clean which makes us appreciate them even more.

Add some greenery

There are lots of benefits of having indoor plants. They reduce stress, increase productivity, purify the air, boost your creativity, etc. Furthermore, they become a real eye-catcher in combination with these gorgeous wooden planters. What’s not to love about these green beauties? So make sure to add a few in your office. Your body and your brain will thank you.

Even if you don’t have a green thumb, there are several house plants that are low maintenance:

  • ZZ plant
  • snake plant
  • spider plant
  • succulents
  • air plants
